ByeBye YGO

This is not a ragequit or whatnot. This is a carefully thought out decision.

I am going to play Pokemon.

Let's get some facts straight:
1. I have always loved Pokemon.
2. Competitive battling has always interested me.

To be honest, I've always said that I was just looking for a reason to quit this stupid card game.

So I went and looked up this 6 time Finnish Champion guy and I saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAyp_5ESifU

Look at around the 15 minute mark.

After watching that video, I kinda found the reason to quit Yugioh, ever since then I've been watching Pokemon TCG vids every night instead of being on Dnet, I've left the pool mid-queue just to watch a game.

I found the deck I'm going to play!

So for the past week or so, I haven't really been taking my YGO seriously, I got 2nd at last weekend's qualifyers and really didn't feel any negative emotion, and the moment I knew I was quitting for sure was when I woke up this morning and didn't really feel like going to the Worlds Qualifyer.

I gave away the win that would have secured my Top 40 (I think) place quite willingly because all I could think of was when I could finally get my hands on a proper Pokemon deck and play it.

I have no intention of ragequitting YGO and selling all my stuff, I would keep my decks and all, but I have no intention of joining Asia Plus, no intention of giving much fucks about this game anymore. I am interested in giving advice to people who want it on my opinion of the game, but I am no longer interested on trying to be the top anymore, cos being good doesn't mean anything now. Casual play with friends who have yet to see the light is the only reason I'm keeping my stuff.

So that's about it, nothing to feel about a game anymore, and you know you've lost your passion.

Qualifier at Full Yen

I used this decklist today testing out with Terraforming as a more selective substitute for Toon Table of Contents.

Similar to last week this was a Single Elimination tournament, and there were about 40 players, 47 I think....

By the Top 8 there were
3 Dragon Ruler/E-Drag
2 Evilswarm/Verz
2 4-Star Fire Fist
1 Prophecy/Magical

Unlike last week, there was a decrease in Magical play, with it only landing one spot in the Top 8, Verz play increased and the surprise appearance of not 1 but 2 Fire Fist in the Top 8 made for an interesting mix, surely something that we have not seen for a long time.

The presence of Fire Fist could be due to the imminent rise in Verz play with the deck know for its poor matchup against the Beast Warrior deck, with a few lucky pairings in this 5-6 round tournament, with some Fire Fist only having to win twice to reach the Top 8.

The cut to the Top 4 was
2 E-Drag
2 Verz

The No.2 deck of the format was wiped out by the Top 4, and an E-Drag mirror at Top 8 ensured that 1 would drop, there were no mirror matches at this point, which led to the "much dreaded" Verz matchup for the E-Drag players.

By the final, a Verz mirror match saw 3 quick games seal the deal, in what seemed to be a "whose monsters can hit harder" faceoff.

As for the how to fight EEV as Magical article, weeeeeellll I lost the last 6 games in which I got EEV-ed, and I realised the only reason that I could beat others who have done the same is because they just aren't very good. When EEV is put in the hands of someone who understands what they are doing the Magical player is fucked. I don't think I need to explain how to beat bad players who deplete their entire hand on the first turn as E-Drag.

Qualifier at SG Cardmart

I brought this decklist to the event with a couple of changes.
I dropped the Cresent for the Kycoo in the side deck as well as sided in an extra Maxx "C"
That's all, for Mr Sherpro who was into my decklist.

Back to the important stuff.
This was a single elimination tournament in which the winner would gain automatic seeding into the Top 16 of the main event.
There were a total of 48 players.

By the time it was cut to the Top 8 there were:
4 Prophecy/Magical
3 Dragon Ruler/E-Drag
1 Mermail/Mermail

Surprisingly, the dominate force of E-Drag seemed failed to secure more Top 8 slots than the so called No.2 deck of the format. This was likely due to mirror matches leading to the Top 8 that caused many E-Drag players to drop.

There is an obvious void in the Top 8 and I think the term is 'Evilswarm/Verz'. LOL, the deck is simply not that good this format as E-Drag players find even more and more counters for it. Even the 'foolproof' Maxx "C" has been countered with Droll & Lock Bird.

Anyway, there was a Magical mirror match in the Top 8, which ensured at least 1 Magical to proceed onward to the Top 4, there were however no E-Drag mirrors.

Top 4 consisted of:
3 E-Drag
1 Magical

BOOM BOOM BOOM, just like that, the Dragons retained their dominance in the Top 4, and the ability to utilise EEV can really fuck them Spells yo. There are ways to beat E-Drags after eating an EEV, but those hands are quite specific and I will go into detail about that in a later post.

In the final, E-Drags once again bested Magical as what seems to be the story of the format.

I tested out the D.Fissure in main deck and realised that it was not bad, but really doesn't help the deck's main strategy if you draw 2, let alone 3. Simply put it is a Toon Table of Content that can't get Droll-ed.

The deck used was purely experimental, I figured out a few things here and there, such as which of my side deck cards were really useful. and whatnot. As for the Exchange that the Japan side has been using recently, will not rely on that too much as you have to give them something, and the only thing you would really want from them is the Droll or Veiler.

Contrary to popular belief, I don't really see Exchange being a thing in the mirror, rather it is to ensure that all dem Drolls are fucked.

How to play around Droll & Lock Bird using Prophecy

Droll & Lock Bird's existence is both a bane and a blessing to Prophecy decks, as they can be splashed easily into the deck as well as significantly hurt the deck's engine.

Here's an example:
Activate Judgment
Activate Upstart
Activate Upstart
"Thanks for the 2000LP, here's a Droll & Lock for your troubles."

This results in a:
1 for 1 exchange (Judgment for Droll & Lock)
2 new cards in hand
2000 extra LP for your opponent

Naturally this exchange would favour your opponent, as Droll & Lock has done its job and ensured that Judgment doesn't. The 2 extra cards were also probably nullified by the Droll & Lock Bird.

Does this make Droll & Lock Bird the most OP side against the deck?
Probably not....

The problem with Droll & Lock is that its design is suppose to ensure that it gives a -1. To utilise this design, we should give as many windows for Droll & Lock as possible before activating the Judgment. A crucial timing to drop Droll & Lock is when the Master is added to hand. If that goes through, we could then decide if we need to risk giving them that window for an extra count on Judgment.

All this being said, it is time to DROP ALL THE TOON TABLE AND UPSTART, 6 windows to Droll & Lock can easily be filled with Star Halls or even additional Towers, as these cards give counts on Judgment as well not providing windows for the dreaded birdy. Reason that OCG still maintain these is the lack of Star Halls in our meta, which could easily take 3 slots after its release.

So in order to play around Droll & Lock, we should try to ensure a -1 on every window as much as possible. That's basically it ya.

Or you could maindeck Dimensional Fissure LOLOLOL.

Wednesday 8 May 2013

I'm back. Kinda

Only because I have found ways to win whilst going second.

Let me get something straight. Going first is pretty advantageous this format, especially if you're using one of the Big 2. Judgment and Reju allow you to plus off on Turn 1 and put you in the driver's seat if you utilise them PROPERLY. (Less than 10% of players in the world I believe)

Going second and being able to win has shown, to some extent, that I am winning based on two key factors:
1. My opponent drew shiddy.
2. I played better than my opponent.
You can go on about any argument that I opened broke, as far as I'm concerned if my opponent doesn't have the hand traps to stop me he opened shiddy. And really opening shiddy consistently means the problem lies with the build, which is ultimately defined by none other than, the player.

That being said, the format, believe it or not, is a healthy one. Yes it is pretty much a two deck format, with the occasional surprise of an Infernity or Gadget a.k.a first turn Shock Ruler, but the better players have been able to tech their decks in such a way that overextension and mindless predictable plays can be easily punished.

As far as I'm concerned, bad players are losing. That is to me a sign of a healthy format. Occasionally they are going to open broke and derp on you making 20 mistakes on the way, but if that happens too often, which I sometimes feel it does, it goes to show that your consistency levels and openings could be further improved on. That is something you have to look back on and reflect upon YOURSELF.

To be honest, these decks that Konami have made have so much potential to make some really innovative plays, but all we do with them is derp. Every week something new about them could possibly be discovered, and more innovations and all that good jazz.

As for now, anyone complaining about the format needs to take a good long look at whether or not they have been a significant contributing factor to their own losses. Innovation is what is lacking to propel oneself to victory, and I dare say innovation is scarce even among some of the better known players around the world.

My advice is simple, play YOUR own game. Don't go around copying this build or that build and don't play Wave Motion Cannon. Sure, some tards are really doing that with their BS (like playing RUM in Infernity WTF), but what is most important is to keep an open mind to new POSSIBILITIES. Cause after all that's what defines the great from the best.

Anyone who gonna give me BS that Drago-LaDD opening is OP, needs a serious reality check.

:(

Not really in the mood to share ideas for the game anymore.

Ya, like I haven't done it for a long time but I've really lost interest.

Like I will still play and share ideas with friends and all that but no more blogging for some time, could be forever.

Hope not.

Friday 22 March 2013

More than a month without updates!

Doesn't mean I'm out of action. In fact, I am enjoying the new format and I don't know why people are whining.

Well, I'm not enjoying Spellbooks though.

The Elemental Dragons allow even more innovation in the game than ever before, and recently I've been testing and Atlantean Beat build that uses Tidal as a floating beater.

Decklist maybe when I'm free.

Anyway, in the past month, I've only played in like 2 tourneys.

The first was of course ACQ, which I had only planned to play 3 rounds and drop as I had to book in that night.

Sad to say I went 1-2 with Infernity. I was drawing quite bad if I must say, won every game I drew a playable hand in.

I also took part in the Ranking tournament at Full Yen with the second draft of my Atlanean Beat, going 1-1 in Single Elimination.

As of now, these are the two decks I intend to pilot this format, thought I am looking forward to Phantom Plane support, as well as War God. Ya.

Update

I'm enlisting into National Service on the 15th of February, so posts will be very few for the next couple of months. However, I will still continue to study the game, and post as often as possible about stuff I think deserve to be talked about in the Singaporean metagame. Also, expect another Introducing our Singaporean Players for my next post, I already know who it's going to be :D

As of today, which is the LGTY release for most people I must say Konami did splendidly in business terms this time around. They:
1. Made decent tech-able commons and rares.
2. Made good support for existing archetypes
3. Made decent introductions into the meta, which could certainly help diversify the game.
4. Made a Tier 1 deck that requires skill to win, is fun to play, and everything is Super Rare.

Basically with the last point, they have made one of the most profitable moves that is still able to make the player base happy.

Next step is banning Heavy Storm.

Let's be honest, no one will ever be truly happy if Heavy Storm stays or goes. We all wish we have it, we all wish that our opponent doesn't. There will forever be complaints on both sides.

More importantly, the announcement of the new Extra Pack, BOMB THE WORLD.

But please don't Attack the Moon. =D

P.S All that hype about Mental Drain, the card is thrash. Complete rubbish, you heard it here first.

Thursday 7 February 2013

Hoard all the Dust Tornado!

Dust Tornado is going to be an extremely potent piece of backrow removal in the upcoming format. Reason being that it can be activated during your opponent's turn to stop bullshit like Tenki and Tensu, and has more utility than MST with it's secondary effect, which can:

1. Help protect cards from being MST-ed or Night Beam-ed during you opponent's Main Phases.
2. For Infernity players, give the opponent a fake sense of security that even if you top deck Archfiend you can't use the effect by setting your last hand card with Dust Tornado's effect during the End Phase.
3. In general, to force optional effects of Spell/Trap that activate when destroyed to miss timing.

I think Dust Tornado has finally risen from the slumps of being that lousy MST to a main deck worthy card, we'll have to see as the format progresses from March. As of now, I see much potential in this card as more than just Side Deck stuff, but given time I'm sure it'll prove itself.

As for now, just hoard all dem Dust Tornados.

Sunday 3 February 2013

In preparation for March 2013

I don't think this list is going to be easy to predict. In fact, I'm not even going to try to predict it in full.

What I forsee is older problem decks, such as Wind-up getting knocked off a bit but not to an unplayable state, and the next format to be a monster based format.

Konami has been releasing several new archetypes that are different but playable, it appears they want to diversify the meta with the new archetypes, but not let anyone of them be miles ahead of the others. That said, Fire Fists and Mermails appear to be the top contenders with decent support in upcoming sets.

If it is true that the meta is set to be diversified, then only problem staples should be hit. Right now I can only think of 2 problem cards, which are Monster Reborn and Heavy Storm. I hate Mind Control, but that has certainly lost power and will only continue to lose power as the meta diversifies.

Reborn should not be allowed to stay any longer, the card is on borrowed time. Heavy Storm is iffy as part of me wants it to stay, most of me wants it to go. I do feel that snipe backrow cards, like MST, Dust Tornado and Night Beam should not be as abundant, perhaps 4-6 in both altogether in Side and Main, so perhaps something may happen to them. I doubt it.

BLS is honestly no longer a problem in my eyes. The card is vulnerable to almost all types of monster removal, and Chaos attributes are losing power as more and more support goes in favour of the Elemental attributes.

That's what I think, in fact, this list is more likely to balance out the splashable cards instead of killing off any deck in particular. Konami has shown that they rather cards fade out of the meta than straight up putting it on the banlist in previous banlists.

I do think though, if Rescue Rabbit doesn't go to 1 that Fire Fists will continue to dominate.

Introducing our Singaporean players, 2

Yeap, it's back. Today's player is a well known Blackwing (Black Feather) enthusiast and also the writer of his own blog, Avengingknight's Yu-Gi-Oh Zone. It's Vishal Dharshan!

Acheivements:
2011 Asia Championship Qualifyer Top 16
2011 Asia Plus Top 8 with Evol
2011 Top Shop of Singapore Top 4 with Blackwing

Could you introduce yourself and how long you've been playing Yu-Gi-Oh?
Hello, my name is Vishal aka avengingknight, I have been playing Yugioh since 2008.

In all the past formats you've played which has been your favourite and why?
Definitely the March 2010 format. The format was filled with great plays but with balanced decks such as Blackwings and Machina.

Since playing Yu-Gi-Oh, what has been your favourtie card and why?
Black Whirlwind, mainly because it's my favourite deck and also because it makes the entire deck more versatile and consistent.

I assume then your favourite deck is Blackwings, why is that so?
Yes. Blackwings in my opinion are a very balanced deck. There is no two card OTK in the deck. Hence it rewards skillful plays. And also Blackwing monsters are cool :D.

I have to agree with that, being a former Blackwing player myself. In your opinion, how large are the differences between OCG and TCG and how much has Extra Pack done to reduce that?
Honestly, before Extra Pack 2012 was released, they were like 2 different card games. Now everybody can enjoy the same amount of brokenness in the cards, which is better IMO.

Do you forsee the OCG and TCG becoming even more similar as time passes or more differences to crop up as more exclusives get released before Extra Pack 2013?
I can see that happening to a certain extent. Konami will definitely release TCG exclusive cards like Tour Guide in the future. But it all comes to who plays better and not who plays more broken cards.

There have been complaints that the game is taking less and less skill, though such complaints are definitely fewer than before, do you forsee the game to become more skill based with the direction Konami is going?
If the ban list eliminates decks that can OTK or lock with 2 or less cards, then the format will mostly be based on how skilled you are rather than how lucky you are in drawing the 2 cards. There should be satisfaction in a loss and not hatred because you lost to a skilless play.

Well said indeed, regarding the local scene, how competitive is it in your opinion, and how well do your forsee youself performing in 2013?
Singapore locals are actually very competitive. It is not very easy to top in our locals. I have been doing well since 2013 begun. The deck I currently pilot is Dark World (hail Grapha). I believe it is the best meta call. As for foresee I'm hoping to get Top 8 finish at a major event.

Looking into the March 2013 format, what do you expect it to be comprised of/dominated by?
Fire Fist mainly. The rest will have to depend what's on the list.

So what do you think is going to be on the list?
Monster Reborn.

I think that's about it, thanks a lot for your time, do you have any shoutouts?
Yeah, Kenneth Tan for starting Pokemon with me and yourself for conducting this interview for Singaporeans!

So there you have it, also expect a banlist post soon.

Tuesday 29 January 2013

Introducing our Singaporean players, 1

Ok this is a ripoff of Kyde's Rolling with the Top Dogs, in this segment, I will be interviewing prominent players in Singapore's competitive scene that are not so well known. Well, today's player is extremely well known in the country as well as over the Causeway in Malaysia, it's Sherwyn Lim!

Achievements:
Asia Plus 2012 Top 8

By his request, there will be no picture of him. Future interviews (if any) would hopefully have a picture of the player.

My words will be bolded whilst responses will be bolded in red.

So Sherwyn, when did you start Yugioh?
2009?

Of all the formats you've played in which has been your favourite?
Hieratic.

Hmmm, that's interesting, what has been your favourite card since playing Yugioh?
Reborn.

If you could bring back a card from the banlist, what would it be and why?
Ummmmmm, dunno, LOL.

Ok, now tell me, what do you enjoy about Yugioh?
The plays and the people playing it.

Can you give me an example?
I was only joking, I enjoy Yugioh because it is interesting.

Haha, that was very funny, was there any moment in Yugioh which you regret or treasure?
I have 1 regret in WCQ (World Championship Qualifyer) 2012 which I don't wish to tell. Sorry.

That's alright. The March 2013 Banlist is approaching do you see any unexpected cards on the list?
My thoughts are almost the same as the rest, Wind-Ups are getting a hit. IMO Mermails will not be touched although Bixuan (from HLG) abuses it too much with his (Armor) Kappa and Megalo.

Haha. What do you forsee the next format to be comprised of/dominated by?
It should be dominated by HEROes, Fire King and Mermails. Fire King eat Mermails, Mermails eat HEROes, HEROes eat Fire King. Verz would also be another contender though in small numbers.

So we are looking at a "Rock, Paper, Scissors" format? Any rouge decks other than Verz you expect to contend against this Big Three?
Lavals, as Maxx "C"  wouldn't be much use.

Ok, in the Singapore competitive scene, we've seen some big achievements on the international stage, such as several tops in the World Championships and actually winning it in 2009. How far do you see yourself in the competitive scene in 2013?
Wow, that's a tricky question. Singapore is very competitive IMO, so I will just do my best and hope for the best. I forsee myself getting a Top 8 in Asia Plus this year.

Thanks a lot for your time. Do you have any shoutouts?
Keith Chen :), Wesley Seek, Bixuan.

That's all?
Johann.

Well that's the end of this interview. Yay.

Disclaimer: grammatical changes and removal of local slang were made to the actual interview to allow foreign readers to fully understand it. After all, this IS to promote Singaporean players to the foreigners.

PUT IN JSPEED!!! FOR MY SHOUTOUT!!!!

As for banlist predictions, I can only say, I have absolutely no idea. For the first time in all my Yugioh I have no idea what direction Konami wants, everything they are making is completely fresh, completely new, they could start set rotation and the game would still be competitive.

Elemental Dragons

I think LTGY biggest cause for hooha is actually these 4 mofos.

All of them have a semi-broken effect, and my personal favourite would have to be Redox cos I'm a Chemistry geek and cos Monster Reborn is looking to FINALLY be banned.

However, like my previous post on Tidal, Redox's effect being one of the strongest leaves it to have almost no attack at all. whereas Blaster and Tidal are HUGE.

That being said, Redox is not needed on the field, so there are two uses it has:
1. Prepare to Endphase go back hand
2. Use for Rank 7 Exceed.

That being said, wtf they are all Level 7 that's making Big Eye broken as shit.

Anyway, I think proper Machina Gadget, not with Tinplate, will be a real contender with the inclusion of Redox in their decklist.

I also think Blaster is asking for abuse, but I can't find a suitable way to truly abuse it other than popping your own Garudinix.

And banlist post should be up anytime now.

Some people just want to watch the world burn

LTGY-JP039 Tidal, the Waterfall Dragon 「瀑征竜タイダル」WATER/Dragon - Effect/7/2600/2000Activate by removing from play a total of 2 Dragon-Type or WATER Monster from your hand and/or Graveyard, except this card. Special Summon this card from your hand or Graveyard. Return this Special Summoned card to its owner's hand during your opponent's End Phase. Also, by discarding this card and 1 WATER Monster from your hand to the Graveyard, send 1 Monster from your Deck to the Graveyard. If this card is removed from play, you can add 1 Dragon Type WATER Monster to your hand. The effect of "Tidal, the Waterfall Dragon" can only be used once per turn.

WHAT THE FLYING FUCK?!
Oh ya I scrubbed at ranking cos Six Sam dies terribly to Verz.

Discard Dragoon, send Dragoon, what's Undine?

Monday 14 January 2013

Ranking Tourney 13/1/13

Decided to finally get out of Yew Tee for a few hours, get some ranking points as well.

Anyway I used my Infernity Exceed build and there were 12 players that day.

Round 1 vs Ash (Evol) OXO
Game 1 and 2 were night and day as it showed both the best and worst possible scenarios for the deck. Game 1 I opened broke and game 2 I opened jank, I only managed to win game 3 due to walling in time out, although I had earlier made a mistake in that game of activating Archfiend topdeck against a Dolkka when I could have just made Pearl to seal the game.

Round 2 vs Ash's friend (Verz) XOO
I think I performed extremely poorly in all 3 games, with some clutch Black Horn of Heavens as well as standard beatdown taking the games for me. I was quite mentally exhausted as I was up till 3am the night before as well as having to play around the hate that Evol was able to side into and decided to just fuck away all his LP with 1800 beats from Archfiend.

I decided to let my friend Bixuan (from HLG) take the win for the next round (it was Top 4 in single elimination) as my head was like BOOM.

Though I didn't learn anything new or made any real big plays, I think actually playing around with a side deck helped me realise that this new build required different side deck cards from my old build. I also realised my tournament stamina is at an all time low. Like wtf. Need to buck up on that.

How to use Infernity Exceed

In response to Thomas' request that I do a post on it, well here it is.

Disclaimer: While playing the deck I use mostly instincts, so there is no real strategy I have when using it.

However, the first priority in my opinion is to get 1 Archfiend's effect to go off, and depending on the situation, decide what else to take.

If Patrol is in grave, take another Archfiend, use Patrol's effect then you can search for Necro if your Normal Summon isn't used yet, if not, take Infernity Break or Barrier depending on what the current situation appears to require.

It is actually not advisable to take Launcher unless you have a way to fully utilize Archfiend special summons. The ideal scenario would be to get out Necro and Archfiend, get a search, and use Necro's eff to get another Archfiend to get another search.

The deck focuses on churning Rank 4 Exceeds, and with Archfiends tutoring each other, it won't be long before all 3 are out of the deck. That way, feel free to use Infernity Break to remove Archfiend and retrieve it with Leviair's effect.

The key Exceed in the deck are Lavalval Chain, No.16, Direwolf, and Abyss Dweller, reason being they allow you to detach materials with no conditions unless you have no cards left in deck in the case of Chain. This is EXTREMELY VITAL, as the flow of Archfiend special summons allow you to dictate the tempo of the game. In some of my earlier games, I ended 3 turns without using Necromancer's effect because I made a Pearl and my Archfiends were stuck under it.

Also, as a form of personal tech, I chose to use Blade Armour Ninja as well due to the pressure it can provide. I chose it ahead of Excalibur cos it was a birthday present and means more to me LOL.

I do not agree with the need to use Emeral, as the only reason you should be making Emeral is when you're behind, you aren't even supposed to be behind. If you're ahead, you should go straight for the kill or at least be applying pressure constantly.

Does the deck really die to Raiou? In the mid game yes, as this is the point you've used up your Grephers, your only real Exceed material to lure Raiou's effect out with is Archfiend, putting you even furthur behind. However, in the early game, just use the Grepher to set up before baiting with some Maestroke probably.

tl;dr Use Patrol effect to fully utilize Archfiend tutoring, hence Patrol is arguably the most important engine peice. Also, don't be afraid to use Patrol's effect to SS Patrol from hand just to reduce hand size, the SS-ed Patrol can also be used later as Exceed material.

Extreme Makeover

As you may have noticed by now, I remodelled the blog. If it looks like a brain fart of colours, do tell me because half of me thinks it does.

Anyway, if I will change it if I think there is a need to. Just trying out more colours and playing around with advanced settings LOL.

Monday 7 January 2013

Infernity Exceed build

I've been testing the Exceed build of Infernity recently and I find it way more consistent, like sure you don't get to go Beetle derp Gachi wall, or first turn Void Ogre, but this deck feels more Doppel in the way that if you topdeck something that allows you to go off, you can produce a kill board almost always.

Besides, Void Ogre is a bad card, it really is. Shi'en is 10 times better than it. For starters, Shi'en is easier to protect, and Void Ogre's negation is even easier to force out than Shi'en.

The only issue I have with the lack of Synchros is the size of monsters, right now, I can just go Gaia or Gravity Warrior to clear some larger monsters, but for this build I have been forced to go Direwolf just to clear Gorz and Trag, this deck does have issues with clearing big monsters.

Still, 3 Break and 2 Compulse should do well enough to counteract that. Also, I notice the Tinplate count in Japan decklists are always 1, and I'm still trying to understand that. I can tell 3 is overkill, but I don't see why you shouldn't main 2.

Raiou in Wind-up?

I think main deck Raiou in Wind-up is extremely stupid.

Your deck is a win more deck, and game 1 your opponent has no side in his deck prepared for you, why the fuck would you conflict with your win more aspects?

Have so far never seen a maindeck Raiou pay off in Wind-ups. Unless you count being there to eat the Prison as a plus, in that case I'd rather maindeck Zombrya the Dark. At least you can DDV with that.

Karakuri Fighter Plane

I claim all rights and originality to Karakuri Fighter Plane. Joke.

Pretty sure there's alot of room for improvement, but this works really smooth, especially once the Synchros come out.

After all, Burei material with Dog comes free from all these mobs, so why not?

Thoughts and opinions most welcome.

Thursday 3 January 2013

Hi WASSUP

Not much, as I haven't been willing to travel to play any locals for like a month. Anyway, after facing a Phantom Fighter Plane thingy deck with Inzecter I realised Flying type wins Bug type and that shit CRUSHES Zecter with their inability to blow up.

The deck clearly has alot of power right now and it's kinda tempting as I enjoy playing such toolbox decks. However, BK would still be my deck of choice between the two due to it being a Warrior deck, which allows more room for sudden PMS aggression.

Also, I made a new DN account and it's NoLogicEustace. Right now the rating is not very high only about 800, but the account is only 4 days old so I think it's quite reasonable :)

If you want to playtest anything and see me online you can drop me a PM and if I'm free maybe we can have a game.

Right now, really looking forward to the new pack as it is going to introduce alot of balanced (IMO) archetypes that can compete at Tier 1.5 easily.

NOT looking forward to Fire Fist as that deck is as easy to read as Harry Potter, the whole toolboxyness of the deck is not challenging at all to me but there's not much you can do if they burst 700 ATK for no reason.

Logically speaking they're like Inzecter too, but since their bigger it makes up for their inability to really choose what they want to blow up and their Hornets aren't renewable resources too.

That's all for now, oh and I don't expect Harpie to be big. They really need that Spell to blow up badly, so they need the Spell that's bad enough, and they need to blow it up, which no one will do for them. Sounds like Geartown to me. Plover is strong, but it's not a carry.
